Through the Public Protection Classification program, the Insurance Services Office (ISO) evaluates municipal fire protection efforts in communities throughout the United States.  A community's investment in fire mitigation is a proven and reliable predictor of future fire losses.  Insurance companies use Public Protection Classification information to help establish fair premiums for fire insurance, generally offering lower premiums in communities with better protection.  Many communities use the Public Protection Classification as a benchmark for measuring the effectiveness of their fire protection services.  The Public Protection Classification program is also a tool that helps communities plan for, budget, and justify improvements.

The ISO collects information on municipal fire protection efforts in communities throughout the United States.  In each of those communities, the ISO analyzes the relevant data using their Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS).  They then assign a Public Protection Classification between 1 and 10 to each municipal fire protection agency.  Class 1 generally represents superior property fire protection and Class 10 indicates that the area's fire suppression program doesn't meet ISO’s minimum criteria.

The Pattonville Fire Protection District is very proud to have received a Public Protection Class 1 rating by the Insurance Services Office.  A Class 1 Public Protection rating is a highly sought-after accomplishment that we are proud to have achieved on your behalf.  Pattonville Fire Protection District is one of only two Missouri Fire Departments to earn the ISO Class 1 rating, and among a class of less than two-hundred ISO Class 1 departments nationwide.  Through the support of both our residents and committed workforce, the Pattonville Fire Protection District is committed to doing Whatever It Takes to ensure that you continue to receive the very best and most responsible services possible.
