At the August 23, 2016 meeting of the Board of Directors, the Pattonville Fire Protection District was awarded the prestigious Class 1 designation by the Insurance Services Office (ISO), the leading independent national insurance rating service. The Class 1 designation is the highest attainable classification conferred by the ISO and has been earned by less than 200 fire departments across the nation. As of this posting, Pattonville Fire Protection District is only the second ISO Class 1 Fire District in the State of Missouri. The rating is a complex and in-depth evaluation of fire protection and typically translates into lower property insurance premiums paid by owners of homes and businesses within the Pattonville Fire Protection District. The Class 1 status will take effect on December 31, 2016. The fire district will be re-evaluated on a regular basis.
The 2008 voter-approved bond issue played a direct role in enabling Pattonville Fire Protection District to attain the ISO Class 1 designation in the following ways:
- Two new and modern fire stations were constructed at strategic locations within the district, thereby decreasing emergency response times.
- Fire engines and ladder trucks were appropriately designed and purchased to match the specific needs of the geographic areas to which they respond the most frequently, as well as to meet the requirements of Pattonville Fire Protection District's service area as a whole.
- The District Headquarters & Training Facility was remodeled, allowing Pattonville Firefighter/Paramedics to participate in the most advanced, and up to date training available.
This accomplishment is another way of showing that the Pattonville Fire Protection District will continue to do Whatever It Takes to ensure that our service customers, our residents and business owners, continue to receive the best Fire/EMS/Rescue services available. We hope that you are as proud of our new classification as we are to have attained it.
